Jim Greer is organizing a Bassett family reunion to celebrate the arrival of William Bassett of the Fortune in 1621. There is also another family whose ancestor arrived on the Fortune in 1621 that may join us. That is the Bumpas Family of America. What is interesting to note about these two families is that the Y-DNA of the Bumpas family is the only close match we have with any family outside of descendants of William Bassett. Here is the announcement:
Bassett Family Members – As a way to celebrate the arrival of our ancestors on the Fortune to America on November 11, 1621, our family has decided to organize a 400th Anniversary. We are planning to hold it at Plymouth this Fall on November 11 to commemorate this very special date in our family history. We think it would be wonderful to share our reunion with other descendants of our ancestor William Bassett. If you are interested in this idea and would like to participate please contact Jim Greer at (removed from archives since event is over). We don’t have logistical details worked out yet, but will share those in the near future.
