George Bassett died at his home northeast of Middleville on June 4th. The deceased was born in the State of New York September 19, 1836 and had been a resident of Michigan for 26 years. In 1862 he enlisted in the Union Army and served until the end of the war. While in the Army he was a prisoner, being confined in prison 17 months in all. He was buried from the M.E. Church on Thursday June 6th.
