Earlier his month, I was contacted by a gun dealer in Florida who had purchased a gun from a dealer in Bay City, Michigan. (Picture on next page). The initials on the holster were Chas. F. Bassett. The only clue he had was that it belonged to Brigadier General Charles Bassett. It turns out the gun was sold to the Michigan gun shop by a member of the Gillespie family. Charles Francis Bassett served in World War I and then went on to serve in World War II as well.

Chuck Bassett
Charles Bassett, who played on the Central high school football team for four years gives promise of being one of the big players in the west before his college career is over. He is now a sophomore and is playing on the regulars at M.A.C. He has already received mention for his good work by several of the critics in the state. He was a member of Coach Mayer’s Central team when it completed the season twice, without losing a game and played post-season games with Detroit Central for the state championship.
