ONE CENTURY HAS PASSED!
On this date, one hundred years ago, on February 2, 1914, Rahija Abou Jamra Saad and Abraham Joseph Bassett were wed in Blissfield Michigan, at the home of George and Maheba Saad Kerbawy.
Rahija was 22 years 8 months old and Abraham was 28 years and 9 months. On their wedding date, Abraham had been in America 13 years, and Rahija three years.
The photograph above was taken in September 1916 in Williamson, West Virgina, when daughters Gladys was 16 months old and Selma was four months old.
No photograph exists of Rahija and Abraham prior to this date, at which time Rahija was 25 and Abraham 31.
Between the date of this photograph in 1916, and September 1930, four more children were born. Abraham died in 1949 at age 63, and Rahija died in 1983 at age 92.
