President leaving NM Pinon Coffee

After six years with the company, Allen Bassett is leaving New Mexico Pinon Coffee.
Bassett was president of the family-owned business owned by his parents, Frank and Cindy Bassett. New Mexico Pinon Coffee is the largest coffee roaster in the state. Matthew Bregar, the company’s controller, will step into Bassett’s role. Bassett sold his ownership stake to others in the family while his brother, Kevin Bassett, is still working within the company in a consulting role and is still an owner.
Bassett said he was leaving because he “had a difference of opinions on the business” with the company.
“I might start my own business or step into a leadership role in an existing organization,” Bassett said. “I’m excited for my next opportunity and wish New Mexico Pinon coffee and the people well. I couldn’t have done it without them.”
During Bassett’s tenure, the company landed the official coffee sponsorship with the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta and opened two coffee shops named Pinon Coffee House. He was also a founding member of the New Mexico Coffee Association, created in 2016 to help promote local coffee shops.
“I will still assist with the Coffee Association should the members ask, but will step away from the operations part of it,” Bassett said.
Bassett was also a 2017 40 Under Forty honoree.
