The Captain James Bassett House (circa 1785) is a simple center-chimney cape design so common on Cape Cod. The Bassett family came to the frontier after the end of the Revolutionary War from Chilmark, Martha’s Vinyard and settled here on the shores of the Hudson. We restored the house in 1989.
