Sam Bassett belongs to the #107B Bassett family out of Syria. Many descendants of the family moved to Ohio, West Virginia and Michigan and became shop owners. Sam is called Solomon in the 1930 census.

Bassett Nut Co. was started in 1928 in a garage on Magnolia Street by Sam Bassett, a distant relative from the same village as the Nassars.
