Drama and stark tragedy rode the Cornish seas in the dark hours of this morning, and when the dawn broke cold and grey the county was horrified to hear that the St. Ives lifeboat had been wrecked, with seven of her crew of eight drowned.
St. Ives is a place of mourning as I write. Everywhere people are grouped together talking in hushed voices of this disaster that has plunged the whole town in sorrow.
