Doris Elaine Bass
St. Paul, Minnesota, March 17, 2022
Doris Elaine Bass of Williamsburg, Virginia, formerly of Arden Hills, passed away peacefully early on March 17th at the age of 98. She was born in White Mills, Pennsylvania, on September 15, 1923. She grew up in Hawley, Pennsylvania, and was a graduate of Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.
Doris is predeceased by her beloved husband George, her parents, Albert and Walber Haggarty, and her sister, Audrey Kline. She is survived by her son George Jr. and his wife Gerri, her daughter Donna and her husband Gene Nelson, three granddaughters, Melissa Speerstra, Kristin Bass, Rachel Martin, and six great-grandchildren.
Doris taught school in Pennsylvania and Minnesota, and especially enjoyed teaching kindergarten. She loved to travel; visited all 50 states and over 40 countries, and treasured the experiences she and her husband had living in Scotland, England, and Italy. Doris volunteered at Luther Seminary in St Paul for many years. She felt truly fortunate to live in her Lake Johanna neighborhood with many wonderful neighbors and friends.
A private service was held at Roselawn Cemetery on March 24th. Memorials may be given to Luther Seminary in St Paul.
