Violet M. Bass, 78, of Evansville, Indiana, died April 14, 2003, at Pine Haven Nursing Home.Violet was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was the secretary of Pine Haven Resident Council. She enjoyed most her pet dog, Amos. Violet enjoyed doing crafts. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, shooting guns and riding motorcycles with her husband.She was preceded in death by her husband, George Bass, in December 1989 and her grandson, Justin Matthew Carroll, on May 17, 1982.Violet is survived by daughter Phyllis (Bass) Carroll of Evansville, Indiana; son, Terry Bass of Texas; son, Thomas Bass of Evansville, Indiana; brother, Francis Graul of Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren, Joseph and Laura Labhart, Jacob, Jesse, Jennie, Christopher, Jason, Derrick and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Haley Jo, Jasper Lawrence, Lacey Jay, Phillip, Timothy, Allen, Ariel, Darien and Kyle; brother-in-law, Clifton Bass of Cynthiana, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.Services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Reverend Mark A. Tabor, burial will be at Alexander Memorial Park.Friends may call 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at Alexander West Chapel and noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Alexander West Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or Vanderburgh County Humane Society. Arrangements are by Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street.
