Anita F. Bass (Fontanella), beloved wife of the late William J. Bass, died on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at the age of 96 at The Village of Kensington Place of natural causes. Anita was born in Meriden, CT on March 3, 1924 to the late Santo and Annie Fontanella. She was a lifelong resident of Meriden, graduating from Meriden High School in 1942. Anita's working career was much diversified: she was employed by New Departure, Cuno, Joe's Dinner, Abbot-Allison, Maloney High School and Jefferson Federal Savings and Loan. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.

Granny, as she was lovingly known, loved to travel to the Casinos in New Jersey and vacation on Cape Cod. Anita and Bill enjoyed square and round dancing, playing cards, and bowling. Anita loved to watch college basketball, professional bowling and tennis. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed baking/cooking and had a great green thumb. Her gardens were her pride and joy.

Anita is survived by her daughter Nancy Ksiazek and her husband John of Prospect; her son Robert and his wife Karen of Hernando, FL; her granddaughter Sara Wilhem and her husband Bradley; her grandson Adam Ksiazek and his wife Jennifer and two great grandchildren, Michael and Emma Wilhem. Anita is also survived my several nieces and nephews.

Anita was predeceased by her siblings Elsie St. Onge, Clara St. Onge, Forrest Fontanella and Edwin Fontanella.

Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service to be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 250 Gypsy Lane, Meriden, CT. Face masks and social distancing practices will apply. The John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Meriden St., Meriden is entrusted with the arrangements.
