Mary B. Bassett, 100
HOLDEN - Mary B. (Dominitis) Bassett, 100, of Wachusett Street, Jefferson, a
former weaver, died Tuesday in Holden Nursing Home after an illness. She was
the oldest living resident of Holden. Her husband, Arthur L. Bassett, died in
1966. She leaves two grandsons, Chester Bassett Jr. of Wayne, N.J. and David
R. Bassett of Princeton; seven great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren;
nephews and nieces. Her sons, U.S. Navy Lt. Chester A. Bassett, died in 1944,
and Robert W. Bassett of Holden, died in 1991. She was born in Shenandoah,
Penn., daughter of Thomas and Ona (Youdisuis) Dominitis and lived he
years.
Mrs. Bassett was once a weaver at Mill St. Mills in Jefferson. She was a
member of St. Mary's Church in Jefferson. She was a member of Friends of the
Council on Aging, Holden Senior Society and the John E. Harkins American Legion
Post Auxiliary. She was a Gold Star Mother.
The funeral service will held at noon Saturday in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158
Main St. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery. A calling hour will be from 11 a.m.
to noon Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to the Gale Free Library, 23 Highland St., Holden
01520.
