Bertha H. (Bassett) Ranslow (Picture included)
Bertha H. (Bassett) Ranslow, 101, of Keene, New Hampshire, and formerly of Uxbridge, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011 in Cheshire Medical Center, Keene, NH. She was the wife of the late George W. Ranslow who died in 1992.
Mrs. Ranslow had been employed by the former Bernat's Woolen Mill, formerly the Bauchman Worsted Mill, as a secretary in the design department.
She was born May 22, 1910 in Woonsocket, RI, the daughter of the late Verne and Carrie (Holbrook) Bassett. She attended Woonsocket schools and graduated from Hill College in Woonsocket, RI. She lived in Uxbridge until moving to St. Petersburg, FL in 1970 and then to Keene, NH.
Mrs. Ranslow was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Millville and had attended St. Bede's Episcopal Church in St. Petersburg, FL. She was a past Noble Grand of the Iola Rebekah Lodge, past Matron of Orion Chapter #110 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Uxbridge, and a member of the Uxbridge Grange #200. She was also a member of the Friendship and Women's Clubs at the Town Apartments in St. Petersburg, FL.
She is survived by one daughter, Eleanor Mae Doble of Keene, NH, with whom she lived; one sister, Dorothy Burton of Mendon, MA; 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. She was predeceased by one sister, Edith Chasteen and her son, George Wesley Ranslow.
A memorial service will be held Sat., Dec. 10, 2011 at 10 AM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 N. Main St. (Rte. 122), Uxbridge, MA 01569. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Uxbridge. There are no public calling hours.
