Alice Bassett
Alice Lanier Crombie Connor Bassett 86 passed away on November 21, 2008. Ali
Bassett was born in El Paso, Texas on March 31, 1922 to William S. and Alice
F. Crombie. Preceding Ali in death are her first husband, Col. John Powers
Connor and second husband, John Jewett Bassett, brother, W.S. Crombie, Jr.,
granddaughter Heather S. Owens and niece Mary Ann M. Hughes. She is survived
by her five children, Ann Connor Doak (John). Stephanie Connor Hahn, Se
Crombie Connor (Anne), Suzy Connor Forsythe (Sam) and William S. D. Connor
(Cynthia), six grandchildren, Stefanie D. Frank (Scott), Brian C. Doak
(Wendy), Ashley Theis (Kyle), Alexander W. Connor, Sarah C. Connor and Annabel
H. Connor and six great-grandchildren, Wylie, Adeline and Phoebe Frank, Connor
and Alice (Acey) Crombie B. Doak and Charlotte Lanier Theis, sister, Ann
Crombie Reynaud and sister-in-law Kate Crombie. Her nieces and nephews include
Kaysie C. Goodenough (Don), Alice C. Smith (Doug), Frances C. Curtis (Jim),
Lanier M. John (Kenny) and Fritz McKinstry (Cathy). Ali Bassett was the
epitome of generosity; she had a wonderful energy that fueled an amazing
ability to do all things well. Beautiful, bright, kind beyond measure s
never tired of giving of herself. She set a standard for graciousness a
unfailing courage as well as indomitable optimism. To our beloved mothe
grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt we thank you for a life well
lived and for all the love that you extended to us so freely, so completely
over the years. We cherish every special memory we have of you and are
grateful for every gift given to us unselfishly. We especially thank you for
being the best mother, grandmother and sister ever! Thank you, Nana, for

Memorial Service will be held at the Church of St. Clement on November 24,
2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the McKee Chapel with Reverend William C. Cobb &
Reverend Cindy Anderson officiating. A private Inurement will be held by
family at a later date. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N.
