Zenith Bassett
Zenith Edna Bassett, 99, Joplin, died at 4 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at her home after a sudden illness. Mrs. Bassett was born March 17, 1898, at St. Louis. She had lived in Joplin since 1916, moving from Kansas City, Mo. She was a homemaker. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and the Pythian Sisters. She attended Central Assembly of God, Joplin.
She married Rutherford R. Bassett on Oct. 14, 1916, at Kansas City. He died in November 1946.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond Bassett, Joplin, and Richard Ray Bassett, Albuquerque, N.M.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, with the Rev. J.K. Wright officiating. Pallbearers will be Ron Bassett, Ronnie Bassett, Robert Bassett,
Kenny McLure, Bryan McClure and Vernon Perdew. The family will be at the home of the son, 3337 1/2 Oak Ridge Drive.
Arrangements are under direction of Parker Mortuary.
