Wonda E. Bessette, 57, of Old Saybrook and a former resident of Deep River passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. She was the beloved mother of Leo Gilbert of Old Saybrook, Heather Gilbert of Groton and Natasha Gilbert of Clinton, as well as a devoted Grandmother to Andrew Cooper, Jacob Gilbert, Destiny, Savannah, Jacob, Jiles, Jordan and Ricky and Aunt of Makayla Bessette. Wonda is also survived by her Brother Steven Bessette of Milton, Vermont and her longtime companion Michael Creeron. She was predeceased by her parents, Theresa and Andrew Bessette, Sr. and her brother Andrew Bessette, Jr. Wonda was an avid worker for 30 plus years at Chesebrough Ponds in Clinton and was also the permittee of the Sobieski Club in Deep River for 5 plus years. Wonda loved spending her days during the summer working the campstore at Hammonaset State Park in Madison. She had many hobbies ranging from Den Leader, Girl Scout Leader, Bartender and Gardner. In her spare time, she enjoyed being outside doing word puzzles and loved lighthouses, she especially enjoyed spending time with her dog Missy and listening to the music. She was a diehard Redsox fan. Wonda was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and companion who will be truly missed by all. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 12:00PM to 2:00PM with her funeral service being conducted at 2:00PM in the chapel of the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook followed by a Celebration of Life Reception at the United Scandinavian Society Hall located at 10 Riverview Avenue, Deep River.
