Mr. Vardell Bass, 88, of 3268 N.C. 711, died Nov. 24, 2015, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. Mr. Bass was born in Robeson County on May 22, 1927, a son of the late Vernia and Josie Cox Bass. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at West Lumberton Baptist Church, the Rev. Rick Forman officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Judith T. Bass of the home; a son, Charles Bass and wife Peggy of Lumberton; two daughters, Donna Bentley and husband Ken of Ocean Isle, and Lynn Elkert and husband Paul of Tennessee; two brothers, Joseph Bass and Cortez Bass; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at West Lumberton Baptist Church. Condolences may be made at www.revfh.com.
