Undine Bassett
Mrs. Undine Bassett, age 93, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2007 at her home. She was born on may 20, 1913 in Muskegon, MI to Alfred and Laurentia (Charron) BOurdon and had resided in the area all her life. She graduated from Muskegon High School in 1931 and worked for the Muskegon Public Schools as Payroll Clerk for over 30 years, prior to her retirement in 1978. Mrs. Bassett was a memeber of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, where she had been a member of the bell choir. She volunteered for many years at Hospice of Muskegon-Oceana County (now Harbor Hospice), and also spent time as a tour guide at the Hackley House. She enjoyed playing the piano daily throughout her life and was an avid social and duplicate bridge player. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and her devotion to her family and her many friends. On July 30, 1938, she married Robert Bassett who preceded her in death on Ocotber 20, 1967. Survivors include her daughter, Diane Lindberg; 2 grandchildren, Robert (Deborah) Lindberg of Harvard, MA and Richard (RothaAnne) Lindberg of Great Lakes, IL; and 2 great-grandchldren, Gabrielle and Christopher. She is also survived by 3 sisters, Carmen Savidge, Jeannette Bastian, Jeanne (Bob) Andersen; and by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Suzanne, in 1942; 2 sisters, Norma Beyer and Kathyrn Johnson; 2 brother, Roland Bourdon; and by her son-in-law, Alan Lindberg. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 27, 2007, at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Home 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with Pastor Ron Amos officiating. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday, January 29, 2007, at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church - Marian Chapel, 2929 McCracken St. Muskegon with Rev. Father Julian Reginato presiding. Memorial contributions in honor of Undine may be made to Harbor Hospice or to a charity of yoru choice.
