Ottis J. Chilton
Mr. Ottis J. Chilton, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at his daughter's home in Mount Airy.
Mr. Chilton was born in Surry County on April 10, 1928, to the late Jessie Howard and Josie Lytle Chilton.
Mr. Chilton served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Ottis worked as a project superintendent for W.H. Weaver Construction Company.
Mr. Chilton is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Phil Wagoner of Mount Airy and Teresa and Donald Fleming of Asheville; three grandchildren, Steven Hopkins, Phillip Hopkins and wife Nikki and Abby Fleming; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Noah Hopkins; and three sisters, Bonnie Anderson, Juanita Simmons and husband Jack and Fay Reddic.
Mr. Chilton was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margie Bass Chilton; two sisters, Neveda Bryant and Dottie Hicks; and two brothers, Dennis and Radford Chilton.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Woodville Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dale Bass, the Rev. Frank Huffman and the Rev. Keith Love officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery with full military rites by VFW Post 2019 of Mount Airy and VFW Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home.
