Oowetta Bassett, of Bedford, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27th, 2019. The visitation will be held from 6 ? 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 31st, at First Baptist Church of Hurst. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 1st, at First Baptist Church of Hurst, 1801 Norwood Drive, Hurst, Texas, 76054. Interment will follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, TX 76034.
Oowetta was born on June 2nd, 1937 in Collinsville, Oklahoma to Sam and Opal Troglin, and she was very proud of her Cherokee heritage. She married the love of her life, Vernon Bassett, on September 2, 1957, they raised two children, and enjoyed many years of traveling the world during Vernon?s time of service in the Air Force. They settled in Bedford, Texas in 1976. She retired from Tarrant County College after 22 years of service. During her life, she passed on her love for Christ to many generations through her Sunday School ministry. Oowetta welcomed all into her home as family and never met a stranger; she was most lovingly known as ?Grandma.? Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world, and she gave them her all and enriched their lives.
She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Bassett, Loving husband, Vernon Bassett and brother, Joe Troglin.
Survived by the lights of her life, Grandchildren: Jessica Lee (Greg), Shane Morris (Emily), Jennifer Dodgen (Ben), Michelle Silva (Denilson), Miles Morris (Alyssa), Aaron Morris, and Samantha Crouch. Great Grandchildren: Gillian Lee, Kate Dodgen, Harrison Lee, Caleb Silva, Savannah Morris and Lucas Morris. Daughter, Sandra Scott and Brother, Loyd Troglin.
