Friday Rites Planned for N.D. Bass
N.D. Bass, 84, of 104 Maple Avenue died at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday at Liberty House Nursing Home after four years of illness and four weeks of critical illness.
He was born May 4, 1888 in Surry County to Thomas Oakes Bass and Sarah Ellen Childress. He had been a resident of Thomasville since 1944 and was a retired steamfitter with Kern Strand Inc. of Pensacola, Fla.. He was a member of Friends Church in Surry County.
On December 18, 1929 he married Emma Lou Jarvis, who survives of the home. Other survivors are a daughter, Miss Kandye Kaye Bass, of the home; two sons, Billy Gray Bass of Rockville, Ind. and Theodore (Ted) Bass of the home; a brother, Emory Bass of Mount Airy; two half-sisters, Mrs. May Whitaker and Mrs. Beulah Caryle, both of Siloam; a half-brother, Albert Eads of Clearwater, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Siler Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Joseph Seay and Dr. Joseph Hester. Burial will be in Holly Hills Cemetery.
The body will remain at the funeral home until the hour of service. The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 o?clock, and at the home.

He was a native of Surry County and was a retired steamfitter for Kim-Strand of Pensacola, Fla. He was a member of Friends Church in Surry County.
Surviving are widow, Mrs. Emma Lou Jarvis; daughters, Mrs. Kandye Kaye of the home; sons, Billy G. Bass of Rockville, Md., and Theodore Bass of the home; brothers, Emory Bass of Mount Airy; half-sisters, Mrs. Mae Whitaker and Mrs. Beulah Carlisle of Siloam; half-brothers, Albert Eads of Clearwater, Flag.
