In Memory of Neomiah Turner
October 26, 1919 ? February 1, 2010
Neomiah Turner went to be with her Lord, on Monday, February 1, 2010. Neomiah was born on October 26, 1919 in Bryan, Texas to the union of Mr. William and Alaria Washington Thornton.
Neomiah was one of eleven, nine girls and two boys. Neomiah accepted Christ at an early age while attending Galilee Baptist Church in Bryan, Texas. Neomiah married Lawrence Bassett and to this union one son was born. Lawrence J. Bassett.
Neomiah relocated to Corpus Christi and was and was united in marriage to Deacon Thurman A. Turner, who preceded her in death. She was united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. There she was an active member of the choir and missions, and Deacon wives. Neomiah was a strong alto and loved to sing God?s praises. By profession Neomiah was a cook, she loved to cook for family and friends. She later united with the St. John Baptist church and was a member of the small group ministry #4 class #2.
One brother and six sisters preceded Neomiah in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son Lawrence James Bassett (Ada) and step-daughter Thurma Hilton. One brother Curley (Erma) Thornton of Brooklyn N. Y. Two sisters Annie Momon of Bryan, Texas and Vesta Cornwell of Daly City, C.A. two granddaughters April Moffett of Austin, Texas and Pamela Jones of Beeville, Texas; five great-grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews relatives and friends. The family of Neomiah Turner would like to thank the staff at Corpus Christi Nursing Home and Rehab and Alameda Oaks for the care they gave our mom.
We also want to thank the staff at Odessy Hospice, Dr. D. S. Ewing, Dr. D. Sutter, Dr. K. Lee, Dr. John Arrindale and Dr. N. Paderio.
