Eleanor Bassett Muse Bride of Dr. N.J. Harris At Home
After Breakfast Party Couple Go To Mexico City
A wedding of interest was that of Miss Eleanor Bassett Muse, daughter of Mrs. Percival Charles Lockett and the late Judge Cavin Muse and Dr. Naon Joseph Harris, son of Mrs. Joseph Hamilton Harris and the late Mr. Harris, which took place Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Lockett home, 5415 Gaston.
The Reverend L. Valentine Lee officiated before an altar banked with arrangements of greenery, which were in contrast to crystal vases filled with white chrysanthemums and wrought-iron candelabra holding white tapers, also placed at the altar.
The bride, given in marriage by her mother, wore a smart bronzene green wool costume suit, whose close-fitting jacket was trimmed with woolen braid. Her accessories were in amethyst, as were her jewels, and she carried a prayer book on which was attached an orchid spray.
Her only attendant, Miss Emily Marshall, wore a blackberry crepe frock fastened with gold hooks and eyes, and she carried a muff of talisman roses. Also she wore a gold heart charm bracelet, a gift of the bride. The wedding music was furnished by Mrs. Fred Davis, pianist.
The wedding breakfast table was centered with crystal vases filled with white bride’s roses and linked together by crystal chains. In other parts of the home, white chrysanthemum bouquets were placed. The wedding cake, which was placed on a reflector, was presided over by Mrs. T.G. Brown Jr. Miss Betty Brown and Miss Nancy Lee Muse assisted in the dining room.
After the breakfast, the couple left for Mexico City. Upon their return, they will make their home at 4538 Roland. The bride attended Hockaday, SMU and was graduated at the University of Texas. She is a Kappa Alpha Theta. Dr. Harris was graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where he was member of Sigma Nu, and received a Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Arkansas Medical School, where he was a Phi Chi.
Out-of-town guests for the wedding were Mrs. Edgar Jones, Mrs. Burt Brasher, Mrs. Katie Lee Keathley, San Antonio; Mrs. Harold Caldwell, Austin; Mrs. Fred Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Ewell Muse, Miss Nancy Lee Muse, Mrs. Edwin Phillips, Fort Worth, and Mrs. Gerald Kearney, New Orleans.
