Marybelle Bass
Marybelle Bass, 89, Topeka, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Midland Hospice House.
She was born in Atchison, the daughter of Floyd W. and Nancy Pitts Draper. She graduated from Topeka High School.
Mrs. Bass was a member of West Side Christian Church, where she served as secretary-treasurer of the Sunday school department, served as a Sunday school teacher, CWF member, Diaconate, Golden Oldies and Upper Room class. She was a den mother for the Boy Scouts and a member of the Artist's Association.
She was a secretary for Capper Publications and the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Marybelle married Raymond D. Bass on Oct. 11, 1940, in Topeka. He died June 17, 1992.
She also was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Bass, who died June 23, 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas Bass and Dennis Bass and his wife, Marti, all of Topeka; a sister, Esther May, Topeka; grandchildren, Jenny Christman and her husband, Jay, and Cara Bass; and a great-grandson, Matthew Christman.
A funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at West Side Christian Church.
Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Bass will lie in state after 3 p.m. Friday at Penwell- Gabel Mid Town Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
