      Marlos Felker Bassett

      Marlos Felker Bassett, 73, of Idaho Falls, died Aug. 1, 1996, at her home following a lengthy illness.

      She was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Park County, Wyo., to James and Minnie Hawley Felker. She was raised and educated in and around Cody, Wyo. During World War II, she worked for the War Production Board in Washington, D.C. Following the war she returned to Cody, where she was employed by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.

      On Dec. 26, 1949, she married James D. Bassett. Their first home was in Boysen Dam, Wyo. In 1951, she and her husband moved to Idaho Falls where he was first employed by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission and later by Argonne National Laboratory.

      She was a homemaker, mother and gracious hostess to numerous visiting dignitaries associated with her husband's work. In addition, she was active as a den mother in the Scouting program, a mother in the Masonic Order of DeMolay and worked in the school Parent-Teacher Association. In 1980, she managed the Bonneville County Republican headquarters.

      She was a charter member of the First Congregational Church were she also served as a trustee and Sunday School teacher. She was a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross and very involved as a wife of a Elks Lodge officer.

      Survivors include her husband of Idaho Falls; a son, J. Neil Bassett of St. Louis; and a sister, Alta Reesy of Cody, Wyo. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and William.

      Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church, 775 Lincoln Dr., with the Rev. Connie Day officiating. Burial will be in Cody at a later date. Local arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., Idaho Falls.

      The family suggests contributions to a favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
