      1927-2015 PITTSFIELD

      Margerite "Rita" Fontaine LaRoche, 87, of 79 Maplewood Avenue, Pittsfield, died Friday evening, April 17, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on June 17, 1927 in Pittsfield a daughter of the late Adelard and Flora Bessette Fontaine. She attended schools in Pittsfield and was a graduate of Saint Joseph's High School. Prior to her marriage during World War II she had worked at the General Electric Company. A homemaker, she was a longtime communicant of the former Notre Dame Church and now a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and enjoyed playing bingo, bowling and square dancing. She also enjoyed family gatherings and crocheting afghans and was a caregiver to anyone who needed her help within the family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Leo F. LaRoche, whom she married at Notre Dame Church on May 31, 1948; a daughter, Lucille B. Perusse and husband, John, of Becket, Mass.; a son, Roger V. LaRoche and his companion, Pat Beany, of Pittsfield; daughter-in-law, Louise LaRoche, of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren, Christie Caron and husband, Jeffrey, John E. Perusse, Jr., Adam J. Perusse, Louise M. Kirchner and husband, Michael, Luke W. Perusse and wife, Angela, Timothy Perusse, Sophia R. and Matthew LaRoche; six great-grandchildren, Alexander and Lily Caron, Gabriel, Nadia-Jo, and Mason Perusse, and Jameson Kirchner. She was predeceased by a son, Raymond A. LaRoche on April 25, 2002; and by her brother, Leo Fontaine in 1981. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 22, at 8:15 a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Mass. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Saint Joseph's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Msgr. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will be at a later date in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams, Mass. Calling hours at Dery Funeral Home will be Tuesday (Today) from 4 - 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
