      Minister Everlyn Bass
      July 10, 1937 ? October 13, 2021

Minister Everlyn Bass, the youngest daughter of Willie Bass and Corinna Day Bass, died peacefully at the age of 84 in Durham, NC on October 13, 2021. She was born and raised in Person County and resided most of her life in the Rougemont/Bahama NC community.

Everlyn was raised on her father?s thriving family farm and learned early the importance of hard work, self-determination, and faith in God. She had an outstanding business acumen, so she served as the farm?s administrator. She and her sister Corine excelled in canning and quilting and won many ribbons for their entries at the Person County and NC State fairs.

Not desiring to limit her skills to farming, Everlyn sought ways to expand her knowledge and utilize her abilities. She achieved certification as a notary public and served in that capacity for many years. She completed study courses in tax preparation, insurance claims adjusting, and Bible interpretation.

Stepping away from farm life, Everlyn continued to be productive through employment in retail, then with Reliance Insurance Company in Durham where she worked a ?second career? for 12 years prior to retirement. She served her community by volunteering at the Person County library in downtown Roxboro, served on several Person County Boards, was charter secretary for Region K Program of Nutrition for the Elderly, and served as a 4-H Club leader, receiving the seven-year Silver-Clover Certificate and Leadership Pin. Everlyn?s name and biography can be found in books published by the International Biographical Centre in England and the American Biographical Institute.

Everlyn was raised by God-fearing parents. She was baptized into the Baptist church and gifted with a desire to care for others. After years of helping care for her mother and siblings, she continued to provide a ministry of care in hospitals and care facilities. She would share Jesus Christ?s message of salvation, love, and hope to anyone she encountered. After spending years studying the Bible, Everlyn answered God?s call to minister as a profession and she was licensed and ordained for ministry by the Baptist church and began preparing to reach the masses with the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Everlyn financially sponsored orphans/ children from other countries.

When it was no longer expedient for her to live on the farm, Everlyn began living in an assisted living community in Durham. Here she taught a Bible class which brought her great joy! In 2010 she self-published a Bible workbook entitled ?The Word.?

Everlyn was a loving daughter, devoted sister, and beloved aunt. She will be remembered for her happy spirit, infectious smile, playful sense of humor, and friendliness to all she met. She was often seen in the halls of her care communities greeting visitors and making new friends. During recent health challenges, she found enjoyment from family visits (in-person and via Zoom), listening to Gospel music, and watching Christian television. God blessed her with loving parents, seven siblings, 23 nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends to love her.

She is predeceased by her parents, Willie and Corinna, and siblings: Keaston Bass, Elvin Bass, Thaddeus Bass, Gladys Bass, Gattis Bass, Pauline Bass Hicks, and Corine Bass. She is survived by ten nieces and eight nephews, many great- and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish her memory.
