Earl Lavern Sims
Earl Lavern Sims -CENTERVILLE, GA - Mr. Earl Lavern Sims, 84, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 10A.M. in the Centerville Cemetery. -Earl was born on January 15, 1927 in Wilkinson County, GA to the late Mr. James Robert and Elizabeth (Sapp) Sims. Mr. Sims was married to the former Martha Bassett and he was a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Centerville and he was also a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lacey Springs, AL. He was on the first city council of Centerville and a volunteer at the recycle center for many years. Mr. Sims was a veteran of the Army <http://www.legacy.com/memorial-sites/army/?personid=151976577&affiliateID=1040> Air Corps where he served in Japan during World War II <http://www.legacy.com/memorial-sites/ww2/?personid=151976577&affiliateID=1040> and a retired contract administrator from the Redstone Arsenal in AL. -Earl is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha (Bassett) Sims of Centerville, GA; and two daughters, Karen (John) Higdon of Warner Robins, Katherine (John) Shawhan of Kathleen; two sons, Stanley (Carol) Sims of Huntsville, AL, and Alan (Paula) Sims of Dallas, TX; three sisters, Ann Cannon of Centerville, June Keys of Decatur, GA and Mary Harris of Hickory, NC; thirteen Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren. -In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Love A Child, Inc., P.O. Box 30744, Tampa, FL 33633-1518. -Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
