- William Basset, Lord of Stoke-Basset and Ipsden, in Oxfordshire, (son of John, son of Osmund, which Osmund lived in the reign of Richard I. (fn. 6) , and was, as we suppose, a younger son of the justiciary) married Cecilia, daughter of Alan de Dunstanville (fn. 7) , with whom he is said to have had Menalida, in Cornwall, as a marriage-portion.

of Alan de Dunstanville" His only child, Cicely, was the wife of William Basset and through her-although the exact period be uncertain- it is undeniable that "the right goodly manor of Tehidy",as Leland calls it,passed to the Bassets." and "in 1796 -more than 600 years after the presumed date of Cecily de Dunstanville's marriage, the old title was received in favour of one of her descendants,Francis Basset of Tehidy. But this new Barony expired with him in 1835"
