Bertha Mae Bassett
Calhoun - Bertha Mae Bassett, 89, of 690 Mockingbird Avenue, Calhoun, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at Riverside Health Care Center in Calhoun. Bertha Mae Hill was born August 13, 1916, in McLean County to the late Roy Stokes and Elton Beasley Hill. She was a 1933 graduate of the former Sacramento High School, was married to Burness Rickard until his death in 1971 and was later married to Robert M. Bassett until his death on March 23, 1995. She was a homemaker, a member of the Calhoun United Methodist Church and was formerly a member of Sacramento United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bertha Bassett was also preceded in death by a son, David Michael “Mickey” Rickard, in 1955. Survivors include a sister and her husband, Helen and David Henry Anderson of Calhoun; six nieces, four nephews; and several cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Reverend Ken Berggren officiating. Burial will be in Sacramento Methodist Cemetery. Friends may visit with the Bassett family from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of services Friday at Muster’s in Calhoun. The Bassett family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Calhoun United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 65, Calhoun, Kentucky 42327.
