Helen Edmonds Bassett, December 18, 2005
Helen Edmonds Bassett, 91, Cypress Cove, Fort Myers, FL and formerly of Sanibel Island and Wallingford, Pennsvylania, died December 18, 2005. She was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, the daughter of Frank and Margaret Edmonds. She was the oldest of six children and grew up in Devils Lake, North Dakota. She graduated from Oregon State College with a degree in Dietary Sciences.
She was a volunteer in numerous community charities and organizations throughout her life, including Girl Scouts, Red Cross and United Way. She was an avid golfer, a bridge player and enjoyed dancing with her husband.
She will be missed by her husband of 64 years, Preston C. Bassett; and her children, Katherine Morris of Ponte Verda Beach, FL, and Preston C. Bassett Jr. and his wife Sofia Novoa of Clinton, NY; and her four grandchildren; Laura Gleason, John B. Morris, Erin Bassett-Novoa and Sean Bassett; and her four great-grandchildren, James and Brien Gleason and Brynna and Johnny Morris.
A Roman Catholic Mass celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Saint Columbkille Parrish in Ft. Myers.
