Funeral is Tuesday 2 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park. He was a native of Nash County and a retired owner of the Bass Shoe Shop. He also was a member of the Friendly Road Baptist Church. Surviving are widow, Mrs. Mary Sykes Bass; sons, Maurice, Clinton, Earl Sr., Pete, and Bill Bass of Greensboro, J.W. Bass of Rocky Mount; daughter, Mrs. Harold Purgason Sr. of Greensboro; brothers, John Bass of Burlington, Curtis Bass of Rocky Mount, Vernon Bass of Zebulon, Dwight Bass of Potlach, Ind.; sisters, Mrs. Alma Lee Coggins of Raleigh, Mrs. Florence Brannon of Greensboro, and Mrs. Dorothy Knott of Potlach., and Mrs. Virginia Register of Newport News, Va.; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family will be at the Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Funeral Home today 7-9 p.m.
