Alfhild Bassett
SUTTON - Alfhild (Swanson) Bassett of 351 Boston Road died Thursday in St.
Vincent Hospital, Worcester. Her husband, Paul S. Bassett Jr., died last
November. She leaves a stepson, Paul S. Bassett III in Virginia. She was born
in Springfield, daughter of August and Augusta (Anderson) Swanson, and later
lived in Connecticut. She lived here since 1968. She graduated from a
Springfield High School and Boston University. Mrs. Bassett was a staff editor
for a publishing company in Boston. She then worked in the neuropatholo
department at Clark University in Worcester for many years before she retired.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Aspen Grove Cemetery,
Ware. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 516 Cares St., Springfield, 01104; or
First Congregational Church of Sutton, on the Common, Sutton, 01590. Walker-
Phaneuf Funeral Home, 21 Pleasant St., Ware, is directing arrangements.
