      Forney H. Bass

      Forney H. Bass, 88 of Magnolia, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009 at the Magnolia City Hospital.

      He was born March 29, 1921 in Okemah, Okla., to the late Ray Kimbrough and Josie Elizabeth (Turner) Bass. He was a veteran in the United States Army serving during World War II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was the head mechanic and machinist for Shanhouse and a member of College View Baptist Church. He loved fishing, camping, his Chihuahua "Joy," and sitting on the porch visiting with neighbors and friends. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who always had a sense of humor.

      He is preceded in death by his parents, R.K. and Josie (Turner) Bass; daughter, Jacqueline Bass; three sisters and six brothers.

      He is survived by his wife, Norma Bass of Magnolia; two daughters, Sharon Fowler and husband Bill of Arkadelphia, Marcia Storment and husband Mike of Dardanelle; three granddaughters, Terri Cross and husband Bracy of Little Rock, Jill Bobo and husband Mitch of Hope, Pam Hess and husband of San of Idaho Falls, Idhao; four grandsons, Nathan Gleghorn and wife Angie of Chicago, Kyle Thornton and Aaron Thornton both of Russellville, John Kushmaul of Little Rock; four great grandchildren, Addison Blaire Bobo of Hope, Katie Kushmaul of Maumelle, Dottie Kushmaul and Samuel Hess both of Idaho Falls; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

      Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. in Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Sayers and Bro. Floyd Hughes officiating. Burial will be at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Joan, at 3 p.m. under direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Family visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the general fund of College View Baptist Church.

      Pallbearers will be Nathan Gleghorn, Aaron Thornton, Kyle Thornton, John Kushmaul, Ricky Morris, Kenneth Bass, Leo Skelton, and Delmar Tripp. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Hodges, Fred Smith and Claude Owens.
