  Notes	The Ulysses News Volume 48, No. 19 Thursday, August 10, 1939, page 1 Mrs. E. T. Bass Died Thursday, Apoplexy Victim Mrs. Edward T. Bass, a resident of Grant County nearly 20 years, died at her home Thursday, a victim of apoplexy. She had been seriously ill several days prior to her death. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church Friday afternoon with Reverend Ridley Howard officiating. Addie Carter, daughter of Asa and Martha Carter, was born April 14, 1861 and departed this life August 3, 1939, at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 19 days. She was united in marriage to Edward T. Bass, and to this union were born six children, three of whom, two sons, and a daughter, preceded her in death, as also her husband. Three sons, Clyde Bass of Blackwell, Oklahoma, C. A. Bass and George Bass of Ulysses, Kansas, together with two brothers, Allen Carter and J. J. Carter of Ulysses and one sister, Rhoda Short of North Branch, Kansas, are left to mourn her death with a host of other relatives and friends.
