Garlette Bass Jackson
Garlette Bonita Bass Jackson, daughter of Garland Booker Bass and Elizabeth Bass, was born on March 2, 1950, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
After high school, Garlette went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in speech pathology from the University of Alabama, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Mississippi, and a Doctor of Nurse Practice degree (Nurse Practitioner) from the University of Alabama.
Serving as a nurse practitioner, She worked all over the Tuscaloosa/Birmingham area, retiring from Hale County Hospital.
Garlette Jackson was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Elizabeth Bass, her sister, Jacqueline Alicia Bass Dickens, her son, Eric Avon Jackson, her grand-nephew, Donald "Bryant" King, II. She is survived by her son, T'Challa Dion Jackson, her daughter, Karen Jackson, sister, Bebe Bass-Love, Brother-in-Law, Floyd Dickens, Jr., nieces: Daphne Dickens-King (and her husband Donald) and Dr. Karen Dickens, nephews: Floyd Dickens, III (and his wife Kori), Brian Love and grand-nephews Jordan King, Eric "Jackson" King, and Alexander Dickens.
A Celebration of Life for Garlette Jackson will take place on May 25, 2024 between 1:00pm and 4:00pm at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center, located at 620 Greensboro Avenue, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35401.
