He married Emma Durfey, daughter of Francillo and Marion (Jones) Durfey, on 24 Dec 1865. She was born 18 Mar 1845 in Nauvoo, Hancock County, Illinois. She died 30 Aug 1907 in Arbon, Oneida County (now Power), Idaho.. They are both buried in Beaver Dam, Box Elder County, Utah.

HISTORICAL INFO.: Loren Elias Bassett was involved in a drowning accident on the Bear River near Collinston on the 9th of May 1904. His son Richard and grandson William Victor (son of Loren Elias Bassett (1866)) both died in this accident. MIGRATION TO UTAH: Loren Elias Bassett crossed the plains in the Alvus H. Patterson Company. They arrived in Salt Lake City 4 Sept. 1863. Trek included: Edwin Bassett age 16, Harriet Cordelia Bassett age 12, Huldah Dimrus Vaughn age 55, Loren Elias Bassett age 54, and Loren Elias Bassett age 18.
