- Minnie F. Jenkins Bassett
April 19, 1920 - March 31, 1993
Minnie Frances Jenkins Bassett was born to David and Laura Jenkins on April 19, 1920 in McKeesport, PA where she met and married Roscoe D. Bassett, Sr. From this union were born four (4) daughters and three (3) sons: Laura Y. Robinson, Pricilla A. Roker, Debbie L. Deas, Roscoe D. Bassett, Jr. (deceased), David A. Bassett Sr., Catherine C. Simmers and Pleamon O. Bassett.
Minnie dedicated her life to the caring of others. A strong willed and committed person she raised seven children of her own, but it didn't stop there. She went on to help raise some of her grandchildren. She worried about everyone, but never wanted anyone to worry about her.
Minnie F. Jenkins received God as her personal saviour, early in life, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, McKeesport, PA. She renewed her membership two years ago.
During her lifetime she had more than one career. Her first career was waitress. For many years she worked in the best night-clubs in Philly as well as restaurants and was called "Reds" by many of the people she knew and served.
Minnie's second career was housekeeper for the Conston family, until her retirement. Relationships developed from this position were warm and caring, allowing Minnie to consider the Constons her extended family for the remainder of her life.
She leaves to remember her love and caring: six (6) children; three (3) brothers, Roy, Carl, and Earl; one (1) sister Florence E. Gardner; twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, three (3) sons-in-law, Clarence Robinson, Mickey Roker and Ronald Simmers; and a host of nieces, nephews, the Conston Family and many dear friends.
