Mr. and Mrs. [Garnet Bay Moran] Emmett Anderson of Kansas City, and her niece, the former Mae Alice Bassett and daughter of California, visited Zula Littrell Wednesday.
She married (1) Frederick Hanson 30 Nov 1934. He was killed in an automobile accident in Southern California.
Mae followed her grandparents, Frank and Alice Bassett and Uncle William to Arlington/Riverside CA from Kansas City, MO. She married(2) William “Bill” Martin Scott 28 Jun 1951, at the Little Brown Church, North Hollywood, California. The ceremony was witnessed by her sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Clarence Nadsady. They lived throughout the 1950s through 1980s on Ledge St. in Sun Valley, CA. Mae and William had William Martin Scott Jr., born 8 Feb 1953. She also adopted Julie Ann.
Mae did not travel a lot but there was one year when all 3 sisters (Mae, Jerry and Vangie) took a 3 week vacation to Europe sometime in the mid-1990s. I remember picking them up at Los Angeles Airport on their return.
Mae died 1 Mar 1998 in Rockledge, FL.
Bill served in WWll as a sailor on a refueling tanker. Bill loved his cello and was a huge fan of Yoyo Ma. He worked for many years at the Lockheed Aircraft Plant at what is now the Burbank Airport. He also volunteered to lead the Burbank choral singing group. I last visited him in January 2000 in Florida when he was hospitalized. He was living with his daughter Julie. The model tanker vessel he had all the years in Sun Valley was one of the few possessions he had in his bedroom. I can only imagine the stories he could have told about that part of his life. He died 12 Feb 2000 in Rockledge, Florida. They are both buried in Glendale, California.
