Garrett, died March 11, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. Born in Allendale County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Polly Brown Bassett. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Lexington, and was a former member of Clear Creek Baptist Church in Woodford County. Survivors are two daughters, Betty Staton of Midway, and Ruth Walker of Jackson, Tenn.; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. A son, Sam Garrett, whose widow, Sylvia Garrett, lives in Versailles, is deceased. Services were conducted March 14 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Versailles. Interment in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens, Jessamine County, Ky.
