Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Newcomer's Floral Hills Chapel; burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Mr. Bassett was born in Sioux Falls, S.D., and lived in this area most of his life. He was a scrap metal burner at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant for 25 years, retiring in 1979. He was a Baptist. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His wife, Dorothy Mae Bassett, died in 1989. Survivors include two sons, Donald Lee Bassett of the home and Richard Bassett, Weston, Conn.; two daughters, Sharon Clifton, Bentonville, Ark., and Linda Morgan, Harrisonville; a brother, Ernest Bassett, Bolivar, Mo.; three sisters, Evangeline Swartz, Paradise, Calif., and Ida Mae Scott and Geraldine Nadsady of Sun Valley, Calif., 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
