Mr. Bassett was originally from Screven County. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Antioch Christian Church. Funeral services were held at four o?clock on Tuesday afternoon, February 6, at Antioch Christian Church. The Reverend John Saunders, pastor, officiated, assisted by the Reverend Curt Hampton, pastor of McDonald Baptist Church. Burial was in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brantley Bragg, Wallace Taylor, Wesley Bragg, Bob McBride, Alex Saxon, Rupert Aaron, Ray Boynton, and Mike Durcinka. Serving as honorary pallbearers were James Sacon, Winton Pierce, Pete Taylor, Raymond Bragg, R.B. Bohannon, Joe Bohannon, R.H. Taylor, Odis Taylor, W.O. Taylor and Bonnie Daughtry. Mr. Bassett is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Madge B. Waters, of Sylvania and Ms. Vernon Bassett, of Perkins and a number of nieces and nephews. Strickland-Waters Funeral Home of Sylvania was in charge of all arrangements.
