Department of Highways and Public Transportation, died Friday in a local hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Herndon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Bassett was born in Colleton County, a son of James R. Bassett and Viola Kinsey Bassett. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a Baptist. Surviving are his wife, Nadine Bazzle Bassett, two daughters, Brenda Colson of Walterboro and Gail Guess of Hendersonville; three brothers, Harris Bassett of Augusta, Ga., Jerry Bassett of Summerville and James R. Bassett of Massachusetts; a sister, Irene Dudley of Charleston, and a granddaughter.
