Alice B. Bassett
January 31, 1929 ? April 10, 2018
Alice Bassett, 89, of Cobble Hill Lane in Elizabethtown, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the UVM Health Network in Elizabethtown. She was born in Peasleeville to Fred and Bertha Morrow Boyd in 1929.
She graduated from Peru Central School in 1947 and attended Albany Business School. Alice started her employment at the Keeseville Bank Later, Alice worked for years as secretary to the principal at Keeseville Central School and then for the superintendent of the Ausable Valley Central School. In 1973, she took the position of school clerk at the Elizabeththown-Lewis Central School retiring in 1991. After retirement, Alice worked in the clubhouse at the Cobble Hill Golf Course.
Alice loved her garden where she raised glads and veggies, which she shared with her friends and family for years. Her pies and rolls were enjoyed by many. She attended the United Church of Christ where her gorgeous glad often decorated the altar. Alice was totally devoted to her family.
Alice is survived by her son, Harry Bassett III and his wife Nancy of Hadley, N. Y.; daughter, Candy Wagner and her husband John of Saranac Lake, N. Y.; son, Ricky Bassett and his wife Kathy of Lewis, N. Y.; 5 grandchildren, Hadley Jacobs and Harry Bassett, Leif Rozon, DeAnn Burgess and Eric Bassett; and great grandchildren, Lucie, Jessie, Braeden, Noah, Rachel, Luke, Felicity, Bailey, Arika, Greyson.
Calling hours for Alice will be Monday, April 16, 2018 from 9 to 11am with service immediately following at the Heald Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
