Notes - In the Land Lottery of 1827, Lewis Lancaster of Fountains District, Burke County, Georgia, drew Lot. No. 183, District 7, Secton 3. Lewis was living in Troup County by 1829 as we find him serving jury duty in that county. He is found living in Troup County through the 1850 census. In 1860, Lewis is listed as a resident of Heard County, Georgia. According to his grandson, Grover Lancaster, Lewis was a farmer and a Methodist "circuit-rider" preacher. He built his own pine notched log house held together with seasoned hickory pegs. Between 30 Mar 1830 and 19 Sep 1836, he served in the Georgia Militia, Troup County, Georgia. He died at the old James Alsabrook homeplace, owned by his granddaughter, Pearl. He is buried in the Lancaster Family Cemetery in Heard County, Georgia. (above paragraph provided by Del Kuhlman)
