Vincent E. Bassett, 78
DAGSBORO -- Vincent E. Bassett of Dagsboro died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at home. He was 78.
Mr. Bassett was born in Berlin, Md., the son of the late William D. and Mrytle Carey Bassett.
He was a carpenter, retiring in 1978.
Mr. Bassett was an Army veteran of World War II, having served for 51/2 years.
He was a member of the Selbyville Assembly of God Church, Selbyville.
Mr. Bassett enjoyed his gardening and kept his friends and neighbors supplied with vegetables every summer.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Anne Philips Bassett; one son, Gary Bassett Troike of Yuba City, Calif.; two daughters, Melody A. Hudson of Clarksville; Robin L. West of Frankford; one brother, Howard Bassett of Salisbury, Md.; four grandchildren, Kim Frey, Kim Campbell, Chris Hudson and Laurier Binet; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan Frey and Katelyn Frey.
Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where the Rev. Doug Albert will officiate.
Burial will be private.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, Southern Division, 600 N. Du Pont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.
