    Notes 
    • He enlisted and served in the Civil War at Salem, Alabama, April 1862. He servied in Co. K, 34th Alabama Infantry. He was captured at Nashville, Tennessee, on 15 Dec 1864, and was sent to Camp Douglas, Illinois, where he was released on 18 Jun 1865.
      From "Remembering Rusk County", the first church at Crim's Chapel was established in January of 1873 with two of the original twelve members being W.P. Bassett and wife Mendocia Bassett.
