BASSETTS OF PIKE COUNTY HOLD ANNUAL FAMILY REUNION
TROY, ALABAMA June 11, 1952. The annual reunion of the Bassett family, one of Pike County's largest and most prominent families, was held at the old home place about six miles north of Troy recently.
Mr. and Mrs. John H. Bassett, both of whom are deceased, were the parents of this large family. They were the parents of 10 children, six of whom were boys and four girls. All of the children are still living except one son, Samuel J. Bassett, who died in 1940. All of the nine living children were present at the reunion, together with their families.
There were present at the reunion about 60 persons, and among those attending are the following: Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Bassett, Mr. and Mrs. L.G. Bassett, J.C. Bassett, Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Bassett, J.W. Bassett, Mrs. Irving Austin, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel McQuagg, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Peavy Price, Mrs. O.C. Prescott and children, Mr.s Lamar Floyd and children, Mrs. William Price and chldren and Mrs. Robert Dunn and a daughter, all of the above from Troy. Mrs Earl Bristow, Augusta, Ga., Mrs. Rupert Green and granddaughter, Banks; Mrs. Dorrill Green and children and Mr. and Mrs. Barbaree of Union Springs, Mr. and Mrs Vernon Jimright and Mrs. Brooks, Linwood; and James Blain Johnson, Troy.
