Lura Bassett (Picture included)
Lura Lorene Bassett, 88, lifelong area resident, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at the Eben-Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.
Lura was born May 22, 1922, in Washington County, Colorado to Walter and Orpha (Harbert) Sharp.
She married Joseph E. Bassett on November 27, 1945, in Ft. Collins. Together, they ran the Bassett Bookkeeping and Tax Service. Joseph died in 1994.
Lura was a member of the West Side Baptist Church in Greeley. She had also been a member of the VFW Auxiliary for over 70 years.
Lura enjoyed crocheting and making quilts.
Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Meyer of Castle Rock, Colorado; one sister, Ruby Delong of Callahan, Colorado; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Lura was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph, one son, Donald Bassett, three sisters, Vera Baldwin, Verda Webb and Lois Hollingsworth and one brother, Virgil Sharp.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, from 2 until 5 p.m. at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Brush.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 22, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Brush.
Interment will follow in Brush Memorial Cemetery.
The Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Fort Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
