Bruce E. Bassett of Austin passed away on Friday, February 6, 2004, in Irving, Texas, after a brief, intense battle with cancer. Born September 1, 1949, to Gaston and Foncille Bassett in DeLeon, Texas. His father preceded him in death. Bruce graduated from MacArthur H.S., Irving, in 1967. He received a B.S. degree from Dallas Baptist University and an M.B.A. degree from Georgia Tech. Bruce will be remembered as a gifted man who spent his life searching for knowledge, for truth and for ways to express his faithfulness to God. He approached everything in life with great intensity. He was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Austin where he served as an elder and Sunday School teacher. In 1993 he attended Austin Theological Seminary and assisted with pastoral duties at Hope Church. Bruce is survived by his mother, Foncille Roling of Irving; his much-beloved daughter, Allison Bassett; his ex-wife and close friend, Susan Bassett; step-sons, Eric and Aaron Stahl; friend, Pinni Warner and her son Weston Warner; his employees of the Closet Factory, and many dear friends and fmaily. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 9, at 11:00 a.m., at Plymouth Park Baptist Church, 1714 N. Story Rd., Irving, Texas.
